Anxiety always riddled the elemental whenever his dearest friend Lost asked for him to visit, especially whenever its out of the blue like this. Sure, Lost has his reasons for the things he does, but now with his mind and eyes opened to what really was going on, those words still echoed in his mind.

‘How far down the rabbit hole are you willing to go?’

Grillby shook his head to get rid of that thought before approaching the door, glancing about to make sure no one else was around. Slowly, he knocked on the door, wondering just what the Lich had for the elemental.

Lost just smiled and held a finger up to his ever so pointed teeth. [Just promise you’ll listen like I taught you, and question everything. Whatever you do, don’t look. And don’t follow the voices.]

Listen, and question everything. He nodded his head, understanding the terms. Grillby wouldn’t be able to trust his eyes with this, not from what he’s started to find out.

‘Don’t follow voices. I understand..Lost.’ He looked over, a smile growing on his face.

His gaze slid to the pocket watch covered in cloth again. Ticking forward steady as ever. True time. Only to rattle as if remembering something terrifying and shoving it back in his pocket again as deep as he could. He didn't want to listen anymore! He didn't want to be reminded of that number!

It wasn’t too surprising now to watch Lost quickly shove the pocket watch back into his coat pocket, likely he didn’t wish to hear the ticking no longer. So, he knew what was going on, willing to assist Lost in whatever he could to save the Timeline. But how?

He keeps giving Lost that look of wonder on what he could do. He’s a retired veteran, could barely lift a sword, or even fight. What could a cook and bartender like him could do?

A smile, soft and sad. The old bone's head finds its way back onto the bar, laid to rest again. Relief. [What do you know of Resets?]

Resets. Something that he heard about mostly from those outside of the timeline, or the few that he’s met. Picking up his glasses, he was about to place them upon his face once more before shaking his head, settling them down on the bar. No, he wasn’t going to look through rose-tinted glasses anymore. He’s seeing more than he has in ages.

‘I have…heard about them from others in the past, on time reversing back to specific points. Things changing when Resets occur. Some more harm than good.’

Lost frowned thinking it over. Acceptance was one thing, but how far would Grillby go? His eye searched the other man's eyes. A tired old bones that saw too much uncertain if he wanted someone else to see even so much as a faction. Afraid that those that would rush in would see a battle and end up dead or worse, instead of the maze of traps and puzzles before them. [Beware your rampant curiosity.]

Was Grillby willing to make the plunge? He was uncertain, that much was true but now…his eyes were opened to things he was so oblivious to. And Lost knew and had been fighting it. He couldn’t just charge in without a plan, or even being prepared for it.

But how much time did the timeline had left?

‘I am aware. Where do we start?’

Lost gave him a look, a serious one of someone still fighting a war behind the scenes. A tactician that had not put away his maps and charts. A last resort that still had a hidden army waiting to be called, perhaps had been. An ebb and flow of the tide that still battled and he'd yet to find the answer. Or at least had not the power alone to stop it.

That look he was given definitely spoke volumes and that he was still fighting whatever was causing the trouble. Now that Grillby knew what was happening, and was starting to understand, he was concerned for not only the timeline itself, but his friend as well.

He returned the look with one of her own of concern for the Lich, as well as a sort of determined gaze. Grillby wanted to learn more, to assist.

[... There are some things worth paying the price of a soul for.] He murmured before frowning. Digging into his pocket and pulling out an item wrapped in a handkerchief. The watch chain dangling from it gave away what it was but Lost would not touch the metal. His eye twitching in time with ticks he was listening to. Conflicting time. His time vs the timeline. [Do you really want to know the answer?]

He wasn’t sure what to think currently. The timeline was ending? But what was causing it? Was it the reason why Lost mentioned to be cautious of how he asked?

Glancing over at the item wrapped with the handkerchief, he noticed the chain dangling from it. Both ticks were conflicting, and making him twitch. ‘Is….’ Grillby wasn’t sure how to ask this time. ‘Lost..is there a way to prevent it?’

It was then he uttered two words. Just two. Two spoken not like words but like a noun. Like a name. Something that even a madman whispered for fear it was listening. [The End.]

His eyes widened and he paled, almost like he’d seen a ghost. That couldn’t be right. The End? Of the timeline itself? If that were to really happen..no, he couldn’t start panicking. There was no time for that. Too late for that.

‘The…End..?’

Even Grillby looked scared..
